Decant essentials
Small bottle. Better decision.
3ml, 5ml, 10ml or 30ml? Choose a perfume decant around how you want to try it, with simple advice for building a collection in Bangladesh.

The takeaway
Buy a small amount to discover a fragrance, a middle amount to live with it, and a larger amount once you know you want to keep wearing it.
What is a perfume decant?
A decant is a measured amount of perfume transferred from an original bottle into a smaller container, usually a spray atomizer. It gives you a way to try the fragrance without committing to the full bottle. The smaller container is the presentation you receive; the original retail box and bottle are not normally included.
Decants are useful for discovery, carrying a familiar perfume or keeping several scents in rotation. Read each listing carefully, because a decant, a branded miniature and a partial original bottle are different products.
Choose an amount for your purpose
Treat millilitres as the amount you are buying, rather than a promise about how many days it will last. Atomizers release different amounts, and wearing habits vary. The options below are examples to help you decide; each product page shows its actual sizes.
- 3ml: an introduction when you want to explore several perfumes.
- 5ml: a little more room for repeated wear tests before choosing a favourite.
- 10ml: a useful step after sampling, or for carrying a scent you already enjoy.
- 15ml or 30ml: a larger supply for a perfume that has earned a place in your rotation.
A fair way to compare prices
Compare matching sizes first. If you want a price-per-millilitre comparison, divide the listed price by the amount. That helps you compare amounts, but it does not account for different atomizer styles or the value of spending less on an uncertain choice.
Add delivery to the total when comparing shops. If you are trying several perfumes, choose a budget for the whole order before selecting sizes. Buying a smaller amount of two different scents may answer your question better than a large amount of the first one you notice.
Make the sample work for you
Give the perfume more than one wear before deciding. Try it on a normal day and in the setting where you actually plan to use it. Notice the opening, then check again after it has settled. A quick sniff from the atomizer cannot tell you how the fragrance develops during a day.
Keep your comparison simple: wear one perfume at a time and make a short note of what you like, how comfortable it feels and whether you want to reach for it again. Performance changes with application, skin, weather and surroundings. This guide does not promise a fixed number of hours or sprays.
Keep your collection easy to use
Keep the cap on when the atomizer is not in use and store it upright, out of direct sunlight and strong heat. Afnan’s general care guidance recommends a cool, dry place and a tightly closed bottle. Label your samples clearly so you know which perfume you are testing.
If you plan to carry a decant, protect it from knocks and check that it is closed securely. The best size is the one you can use comfortably, identify easily and finish while you still enjoy the fragrance.

Which size should I buy for a perfume I have never tried?
A small decant, such as 3ml or 5ml when offered, is a practical starting point. Wear it on separate occasions and decide whether you enjoy the full development before buying more.
Are premium and standard decants different perfumes?
For the same fragrance, the bottle label describes the presentation. Compare both the millilitre amount and atomizer option on the product page; a premium bottle may have a different price.
